Janaé (ya-nae) is the proud owner of commitment, energy, drive, and determination. She is a self-made young lady and a self-directed learner. In the classroom and in other pursuits, she is relentless in her pursuit of excellence. Janaé strives to demonstrate a sense of ownership for her success. She’s fierce, outgoing, passionate, and sophisticated. The following Dorothy Height quote is what she lives by, “I want to be remembered as someone who used herself and anything she could touch to work for justice and freedom…. I want to be remembered as one who tried.” Her voice is her instrument. She not only supports activism, but she breathes it. One day she’ll trailblaze in education reform provoking dialogue around community empowerment. Janaé is the founder of an after-school program for girls and currently holds a position as Director of the After School Academic Achievement Program at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center.
