On Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, ISIS attacked Paris, France as well as some of the city’s surrounding suburbs.

The attacks killed over 129 people and injured 352. Of the 352 people that were injured, 99 of those are in critical condition. There were three teams of ISIS members shooting and bombing six different locations. The largest target location was the Bataclan Concert Hall, where 89 people, many under the age of 30, were killed. Here, three terrorists opened fire on the crowd with assault rifles.

ISIS, the Islamic terrorist group, released a statement on Saturday, Nov. 16, that they were responsible for the attacks on France. ISIS claimed that their attacks on Paris were just the “first of the storm” and that all targets were “accurately chosen.”

This notion was expressed in their message:
“Let France and those who walk in its path know that they will remain on the top of the list of targets of the Islamic State, and that the smell of death will never leave their noses as long as they lead the convoy of the Crusader campaign, and dare to curse our Prophet. … This attack is the first of the storm and a warning to those who wish to learn.”

The eight ISIS rebels that were included in the attacks were all armed, or were armed with the addition of an explosive belt. Of the eight attackers, seven have been identified and found.   The eighth terrorist, Salah Abdeslam still remains at large. Abdeslam’s older brother, Ibrahim Abdeslam was killed during the terrorist attacks on Friday after detonating his suicide bomb belt.

Police allege that the mastermind behind the spree of terrorist attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoudlast, was killed along with a cousin during a police raid at a Paris apartment several days after the attack.

After the devastating strike on Paris, many people, nations, and groups have expressed their condolences and sorrows for the hurting people.

One group that cried out against the terror was the group of internet hackers, Anonymous. Anonymous members keep their identities totally secret. Their number is unknown and they are located all over the globe.

Anonymous was formed in 2006 when they performed the Habbo Raids. In this virtual hack, Anonymous flooded a social media site, Habbo, due to its racist tendencies not to allow members due to their skin color.

Some other notable hacks that Anonymous carried out were “Project Chanology” in 2008, which targeted Scientology, “Operation Ferguson” in 2014, which warned Ferguson police to lower their brutality, and “Operation Charlie Hebdo” in 2015.

On the evening of Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, Anonymous declared war against ISIS after word of the attacks. They released a video on their YouTube page that threatened ISIS.

The group of hackers stated that ISIS should, “Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared.”

Anonymous has been putting together a list and taking down twitter accounts that show hints of supporting ISIS. The cyber attackers help those who cannot defend themselves or need extra support worldwide. They do what they can do through the internet and computers to help defeat groups or people that have wronged society in some way.

The Anonymous slogan states, “We are a legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.”

ISIS should beware of Anonymous and their threats due to their cyber-power and their determination to protect the innocent.
