Meghan Markle and The Queens Relationship in the Beginning
Us Weekly reported that Meghan and the Queen first met in September 2017 at Balmoral Castle. In an interview before the couple’s big engagement, it was reported that the meeting went “really well.” Meghan said that she had “..incredible respect for being able to have that time with her, and she’s an incredible woman.” In March, the Queen gave her official approval to the couple’s engagement. These statements show that the Queen and Meghan had a really good relationship and they had respect for each other in the beginning. So where did it all go wrong?
The Downfall to Meghan and the Queens Relationship
The Queen and Meghan’s relationship took a turn for the worse when Meghan was accused of bullying the royal staff in March 2021. These claims, along with the interview with Oprah, put a strain on the relationship between Meghan and the Queen and Harry’s relationship with the rest of the royal family. The royal family responded to the interview by saying “the couple’s accusations of racism and lack of support are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the royal family privately.” The Queen said that she was saddened that the couple dealt with these issues at the palace.
Will Meghan and The Queen Ever Meet Again
Meghan and Harry claimed they won’t be returning to royal life. The Queen did confirm that they still will be carrying out Royal duties just not at the palace. The royal family stated, “While all are saddened by their decision, the Duke and Duchess remain much-loved members of the family.”
