Treat Your Mom This Mother’s Day
Mother’s day is right around the corner. Do you have any plans yet? Well, if you are like me, you will probably scribble a card and prepare a last-minute baked good. That’s all fine and dandy, but not exactly thoughtful. However, this mother’s day can be different. Give her a gift that is meaningful and from the heart. Here is a list of activities and homemade gifts that will make this mother’s day special.
1) Make her breakfast
Breakfast in bed is great, unless your mom would prefer to eat it in the kitchen. Either way, this is easy and fun. Dishes could include: eggs and toast, yogurt and granola, biscuits and an omelet, or pancakes with fruit on the side. Making the meal also means you get to eat the extras, which is a plus.
2) Go see a movie
You could go out and see a movie or watch one at home on Netflix. If you choose to watch one at home, you could microwave some popcorn and grab some blankets to make it more special. Make sure she wants to watch the movie too, or pick it out together.
3) Get a manicure
This is a simple but fun way to be pampered but not have to spend too much. Some local nail salons can do a manicure for as low as $15, and if you treat for the both of you, she’ll be impressed.
4) Clean the house
This may not be the most fun, but it can make a big difference. A clean house is always appreciated. Try doing the dishes, the laundry, cleaning your room or the kitchen, and maybe even the bathroom!
5) Make her favorite dessert
Get the right ingredients and follow the recipe, and it will turn out great. Making a homemade, gourmet dessert is more thoughtful than a store bought alternative. She will love it, especially if it’s one of her favorites.
6) Make a craft
It could be on a card or on canvas. There are awesome DIY canvas art projects that are super easy but look store bought. Check out Pinterest if you need some inspo.
7) Go for a walk
Take advantage of the amazing hikes that Illinois has to offer. Starved Rock has many beautiful trails that range in difficulty and distance.
