The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
A night out with your five closest friends sounds like a great time…until they go missing one by one. That is precisely what happened to Erin, Kemper, Morgan, Andy, and Pepper, the main characters in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
This 2003 American film is a re-make of the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, inspired by the Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein. Although the movie is not a biography of Gein’s life, the plot reflects similar incidents.
The five young adults are on their way to a concert when things take a turn for the worse. As they drive along the lonely road, they find a distraught young hitchhiker. They try talking to her but all she could mumble was, “bad man.” Not long after the group of friends try to help this young woman, she pulls out a gun and shoots herself.
The group of friends panic and quickly looked for police assistance. The movie continues to freak out its viewers when Kemper, searching for the Sheriff’s house, unfortunately runs into Leatherface. Leatherface is the nickname given to the killer because he has the habit of slicking off his victim’s face and wearing it as a mask. The terror, blood, and gore continues as he clubs Kemper in the head with a sledgehammer and then uses a chainsaw to cut off his face.
Each friend goes off on their own looking for a missing friend and for help only to never return.
This film received four and a half stars from the Rotten Tomatoes review. It would make the perfect Halloween-inspired scary movie night, but only if you like blood, screams, and being scared to death!
