Senior Transfer Student, Kat Hans, Blends Right In With Regina Community

Senior Kat Hans is a new addition to the Regina community, transferring to Regina as an incoming senior.

While transferring to a new school senior year may seem intimidating, the Regina community has welcomed Kat, also known as “Kit Kat” by the class of 2020, with open arms. One thing the seniors always say is that Kat “was the missing piece to our senior puzzle.”

Everyday, Kat makes the 45 minute journey to Regina from Lake Bluff. This commute can be challenging, but she says that it’s “100% worth it.”

When asked what made her choose Regina Dominican, Kat said that she had a good feeling after she did a tour, and also liked the all-girls aspect of Regina education. With Regina being all-girls, Kat says the environment contrasts with her prior school as the students at Regina are welcoming, supportive, and non-judgemental. And of course, the ability to jump out of bed and to head to school without doing hair or makeup is an added bonus as well.

Another thing Kat says about Regina is that “there is something here for everyone.” So far this school year, Kat has participated in the musical, the bowling team, and Orchesis – three activities she did not participate in at her old school. Additionally, Kat says she enjoys how everyone here is involved in a variety of different activities, and are open to new experiences. Kat is especially looking forward to Orchesis, where she will perform a special Irish dance with sophomore Catherine Patti and junior Maggie Stutz.

According to Kat, her favorite events she has been to so far are the Regina vs. Resurrection volleyball game and the musical. A surprising thing about Kat is that before she attended Regina, she had actually never heard of Resurrection. Although, with our strong rivalry and nail-biting sports games, it’s sure a name she’ll never forget. Another highlight of her year so far was the fall musical The Wizard of Oz, where she played the roles of coroner, munchkin, and ozian. In the musical, Kat had a solo where she wowed the audience with her beautiful vocals.

I asked Kat how she would sum up her Regina experience so far, and without hesitation she said “so good!” Looking forward to the rest of the year, Kat says she wants to continue to grow closer with her friends and enjoy all the events and activities left for the senior class.

Not only does Kat love being a Panther, but the Regina community loves having her. Paws Up to Kat!
