Senior Maddie Bazarek’s Successful Tennis Season

Senior Maddie Bazarek's Successful Tennis Season

Q: What has been the highlight of your tennis season?
The highlight of my season was going into a tie breaker at GCAC versus Resurrection. Although we lost, I think it showed how if you really apply yourself you can do anything.

Q:Why do you enjoy tennis?
I enjoy tennis because I think I am pretty good at it. I also enjoy it because it is challenging and it is NOT a team sport. Although I play for the Regina Dominican Tennis Team- I really play for myself.

Q: What is one struggle you have had to overcome in tennis?
The one struggle I have had to overcome this year was having to perfect my serve. WHEN my serves work they are very powerful and almost un-returnable. However, I always focused more on power and speed rather than accuracy.

Q:What has tennis taught you?
Tennis has taught me how to balance myself. With senior year being as hectic as ever, tennis has helped me workout my frustrations and stress. After tennis I would go home and focus on homework and not on my personal life.

Q: How have you helped make the tennis program better this year?
What I have done to change the Regina Tennis program is show that it’s not to late to become a leader in a sports program. I was definitely not a leader last year or the year before last. Since it was my last year on the tennis team, I wanted to make sure it rocked. So I took initiative and helped build a team and not just a group of girls playing tennis.
