Say Yes to the Prom Dress
As Prom season quickly approaches, girls realize they have many things to find before the big night such as a date, where they are going for the after party, and, most importantly, their prom dress!
But where can a high school student find the perfect prom dress that will not only wow date, family, and friends, but will still look good on the dance floor.
Well, we have done your work for you. Choose one of these fabulous places to help pick the prom dress of your dreams!
Online
It’s no surprise that online shopping has become every teenage girls addiction — meaning you don’t have to drive and visit a multitude of shops. Plus, you can have anything you want shipped right to your door. For this reason, why not shop for your Prom dress online?
Rent the Runway is a new, popular shopping site that lets you rent prom dresses instead of actually purchasing them. On the website, you can specify what you want your dress to look like from your clothing size to the color to the age and to the style.
The catch: you are only allowed to keep the dress for four days before you have to send it back. However, on a positive note, is Rent the Runway will send you the same dress in two different sizes (just in case!).
Prom Times, like Rent the Runway, is a new website that ships dresses to girls with dresses arriving in less than two days. These dresses must be purchased. When shopping on this website, you are able to categorize the dress you want in many ways, from the hottest selling to new arrivals to less expensive.
A big positive of this website are the coupon codes found right on the front page! This is definitely a plus for those of us trying to pinch a few pennies.
Bridal Shops
Bridal Shops found throughout the Chicagoland area offer not only an array of beautiful wedding dresses, but beautiful prom dresses as well. The selection might not be the largest, but the few dresses these shops carry are stunning.
David’s Bridal is a bridal shop with three close locations to Regina. There are shops in Chicago, Vernon Hills, and Shaumberg. At David’s Bridal, you are able to make an appointment, even when shopping for prom dresses. David’s Bridal does not hold a big selection of dresses as wedding dresses are their specialty, but the ones they do have come many varieties.
There have elegant, but simple dresses to dresses with a lot of bling. They carry bright colored dresses to more serious and dark hue dresses. If you want to be different, they even have short dresses.
The hardest part about shopping in a bridal shop, for me personally is that I get carried away at looking at the wedding dresses; I forget I’m shopping for prom! It’s just that those dresses are so beautiful, I easily find my self distracted.
Stores
Old Orchard Mall, right down the street from Regina, is a place all of us girls know and love. We are so lucky that some of those stores just so happen to have prom dresses for this special time of year.
Macy’s is a store that specializes in things from clothes to jewelry to home decor, but they also carry prom dresses during this great season. The dresses are shoved back in the far corner of the store, not the first place you would believe them to be. They also have a small selection. The dresses are very squished together and difficult to comb through, but they are certainly beautiful and range from several different styles, definitely going to spark someone’s interests.
Nordstrom, similar to Macy’s, sells several products, along with the fabulous dresses. Nordstrom prom dresses are very high class, but also lack in variety. There may have been less than 15 dresses when I shopped at the store, but they were so beautiful, it honestly did not even matter that there were so few dresses. Some were simple and stylish, while others luminous in color with a lot of sparkles.
Prom is a special time for all high school girls and finding the perfect dress is a big part of the day. Good luck in your search and don’t forget to sport your beautiful new dress May 8 for senior prom!

Dear Editor,
I really enjoyed your article. It is very audience specific and conversational which made it a fun and easy read. I liked the way you split the article into different categories, relating to all different types of shoppers. Personally I prefer to shop online, which is how I purchased both my dresses for both Regina and notre dame prom, but I know many other girls are scared to order something as important as a prom dress. As was said in the article another risky move which is actually very popular is the rent the runway option. Renting a dress is a brilliant idea but the fact that you don’t see your dress until maybe the day before the event is very scary. Also the fact that you touched on many other store options such as the bridal shops and the prom times is very helpful to readers because there is somtimes such a small selection at department stores as you mentioned. By giving the reader these options and suggestions it helps narrow the stressful search and really find a dress they fall in love with. It also helps avoid dress repeats, and conflicts. If I had not yet found my prom dress, this article would be very helpful and for those who a still looking it is definitely a recommended read.

Dear Editor,
This article is so helpful! I have been holding off to find a prom dress. I feel like there so much pressure to find the perfect dress. Prom is less then a month away. Yikes. I had no idea where start to look. I now have some ideas where to start looking. I never heard of prom times so I will check it out. Even though I am a little afraid to order it online. I am afraid it won’t work out and you get it so last minute before prom but it’s a good idea to start looking and getting an idea of what kinda of dress you want. I never thought to look at the bridal shops. Which is a good idea! Thanks for the recommendation for the stores. I will check them out for sure. You picked a good topic to talk about and it is such a relatable topic especially around this time. Thanks for the advice!

Dear editor,
I think that your article is very accurate and probably is giving shopping ideas to more than half of the seniors at Regina. I really liked how you broke up the stores into groups and described them underneath. I think that the amount of stores that you used is good too. The way that you wrote about the stores is very relatable and can speak to all audiences. Also you did a good job of making this article neat and organized. I like how you split it up into: online, bridal shops, and stores and then did subcategories of it. From my prom dress search I have actually looked at a lot of these stores. Many girls from Regina have told me about all of these stores and it has helped me to find my prom dress. For people who have no idea where to start looking, this article is a good place to go. From looking at these stores I can say that I have also found many pretty dresses at each of them. I can personally say that looking for a prom dress is very stressful and hard work especially if one does not know where to look. By reading this article one can have a place to start. There are six places listed here and I bet that one will be able to find a dress. I personally really enjoyed this article and believe that it is extremely helpful to others.

I found this article helpful since I am still looking for a prom dress . Which is very frustrating because I have been looking for about a month ,, and still could not find anything that pooped out at me . I thought it was interesting that you could get your prom dress at David’s bridal store. I thought the store only sold wedding dresses there . I also thought it is smart to rent your prom dress , but sort of risky because you do not know who was wearing the dress that you have rented before you , but I guess you could dry clean your prom dress! I also I am goanna take this advice from this article . Because I did not now how many different stores and departments that sold prom dresses .
