Regina’s Cross Country Team Still Thriving
Regina Dominican High School is known for its wonderful leadership programs… but their sports programs are also just as good. One sport that has been successful for many years is cross country. Regina Dominican’s Cross Country program was established in 1979. This running sport has been around for years and continues to thrive today.
In total, the Panthers have won four IHSA Regional titles, including back-to-back championships in 2008 and 2009. They also have had qualified individuals for the IHSA State Championships over the past few years, which is a great accomplishment for the Panthers. The girls work so hard and have always demonstrated an enormous amount of dedication to their team.
Throughout the years here at Regina, they’ve had a large number of girls who have made it to state, which is quite the success for the entire team and the school community.
This year’s season of 2019 has been really successful and the girls on the team have greatly improved. The team hopes to make it to another state tournament. Mr. Scott Bohlke who is the coach of this team, couldn’t have been more prouder of his girls.
Coach Bohlke said, “We’ve had a great group of girls run for us this season. Everyone worked hard and improved their times throughout the season. We want to thank our seniors- Erin Phelan, Isabelle Spiewak, Maureen Hines, and Bella Holtane for their leadership and dedication to the sport these last four years. They are truly going to be missed.”
The cross country team is proud of everything they have achieved over the past thirty years and they look forward to an additional thirty-plus years of amazing running!
