Raffle Money To Be Spent on New Gym Bleachers
Every year the raffle money goes to something very special with the goal that it will change, help, or improve Regina Dominican. Last year, the money went towards the outdoor Panther Patio. The previous year, raffle money helped with the cafeteria remodel. This year’s raffle will use the raised money for new gym bleachers.
If you have sat on the bleachers, you may have noticed that the bleachers have seen their better day. It is both interesting and frightening that these bleachers have been sat on by students, faculty, staff, parents, and relatives for a long time.
The total amount of raffle money collected was $41,636.50, with the school’s goal at $40,000. The amount of the bleachers is still being negotiated.
Miss Kristine Reilly, Special Events and Administrative Coordinator stated that, “Mr. Marcum and Mrs. Lefevre are working with several companies to finalize the proposal and the price will be under $40,000.”
The new bleachers will be installed on the main level only leaving the upstairs panther pit staying the same. The new bleachers will provide safer, and comfortable seating.
Ms. Reilly said, “This renovation will be for the floor level bleachers and will include railings, handicapped seating, aisles, and many other modern features to better serve our school community.”
The renovation will happen shortly, said Ms. Reilly. ” We want to ensure students the safest and most modern facilities to watch pep assemblies, athletic games, and for gym classes.”
The Regina Dominican community are very excited to start this process because it will help improve the school community.
Ms. Reilly said, “As an alum, I am excited about all the possibilities of this project. Running the raffle, I know how hard the students all worked and what a great accomplishment it is to reach our goal. So, thank you to the whole community for their support and especially to the students as it is really their raffle.”
Every year, students in student council provide some ideas for what the raised money should be used for. It will be nice for the families of athletes and the Regina Dominican community to benefit from the new bleachers. Watching sports will soon take on a more comfortable meaning and will hopefully last for for many fun years.
