Julia Heneghan is one of Regina Dominican’s transfer students. She attended Loyola Academy for three years before finally deciding to attend Regina for her senior year.  Her older sister, Maura Heneghan, in fact, attended Regina and graduated in 2021.

Heneghan said she decided to transfer to Regina because: “Regina feels less pressured, and more relaxed and chill.” She also said, “It feels easier to be open and I like the block schedule.”

Getting involved within different activities is something Heneghan really enjoys, along with taking part in Regina’s outdoor sports. She also plans to get involved as a theater crew member for Regina’s musical, “Chicago.”

Heneghan jumped right into athletics playing on Regina’s newest sport, flag football. Heneghan discovered she really likes the sport. She is a key member of the football team as she starts as Regina’s offensive center, as well as playing in the defensive linebacker position.

Heneghan’s favorite subjects are English and social studies. Heneghan, also, really enjoys her AP Psychology class and is excited to learn more.

Although Heneghan doesn’t have a set plan on where she wants to go to college, she has looked at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where her sister attends college. Heneghan really enjoyed visiting her sister and getting to experience university life.

She isn’t quite sure what she wants to study next year. She said, “I don’t want to study anything medical-wise, but maybe something in business or law.”

After college Heneghan wants to come back and live in Chicago. She also plans to have many dogs.

Outside of school, Heneghan enjoys hanging out with her friends and attending many country concerts. She also likes to paint art and enjoys playing sports that are not super intense.

Overall, Heneghan is surprised she is enjoying Regina so much as she was nervous about the change from Loyola. She has really enjoyed these past few weeks at Regina and is excited for the opportunities it will continue to offer her!
