The Claim

In early November, two videos appearing to be created by the FBI surfaced, claiming that there had been inmate voter fraud and was rigged for the democratic president-elect, Kamala Harris. Additionally, two more videos were allegedly created, one by CBS News and the other by FOX News, claiming that the FBI had warned voters to vote remotely due to “terror threats.” Quickly after the creation of the videos, the FBI took the videos off of X, the platform in which they were originally uploaded.

Who’s Behind the Information?

While many people initially thought these videos were made by the FBI, as well as by CBS and FOX news respectively, this appears to be untrue. CBS News has also claimed that the video appearing to be from them was fabricated, and the information in these falsified reports has not been verified by the FBI.

The FBI seems to believe that the videos were made by Russia. Supposedly, Russian influence actors have recently been posting and amplifying videos about election fraud in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris. The FBI made a statement saying that “Russia is the most active threat. Influence actors linked to Russia in particular are manufacturing videos and creating fake articles.”

Additionally, the FBI has found Iran to continuously be a threat to the U.S. elections, saying that “Iran also remains a significant foreign influence threat to U.S. elections.” The FBI believes that Iranian influence actors will also begin to create and promote unverified information to attempt to dissuade Americans from voting.

In their statement, the FBI said that the “videos are not authentic, and their contents are false.” CBS News has also claimed that the video appearing to be from them was fabricated, and the information in these falsified reports has not been verified by the FBI.

The FBI, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) all released a joint statement saying that the videos were released by Russian media, and were not to be trusted or viewed as truth.

Our Rating

To conclude, this claim is not legit. The videos were completely inaccurate, and were disproven by all the organizations that originally had their likeness stolen.
