Ms. Speth: Admissions Associate or Superhero?
Remember the woman who Irish danced at the Thanksgiving prayer service? Or maybe you remember her when she sang CheerGina at the Fall Pep assembly? Did you think, ‘Wow, she must be so cool!’? Well she is– and her name is Colleen Speth.
Colleen Speth grew up in Evanston, and attended Evanston Township High School. Although Colleen had an enjoyable high school experience, it was at college where Colleen Speth really had fun.
Speth first attended college at The University of Massachusetts-Amherst, but finished her degree from DePaul University. She loved college. “UMass was an absolute blast, but I loved how I got to really ‘grow up’ at DePaul.” Speth says.
During college, Speth picked up lacrosse for the first time. She did this because her mom told her that she had to join the Freshman Honors Society and one of the requirements was to participate in an extracurricular activity. With the guidance of her lacrosse-loving brother, she thought she would give the sport a try. She did and found out that she loved the sport. She was the team’s goalie.
Speth became the lacrosse coach at Regina last year. She found out a possible lacrosse coaching position from senior Nora Byrne’s mother who is also a lacrosse coach. Colleen went on the Regina website to find out more about the position and saw that there was a job opening in admissions. She applied for both positions and luckily, for all of us, she was hired.
Speth is now the Admissions Associate here at Regina. She works with Mrs. Fuentes and recruits middle-school students to attend Regina. The admissions department visits grade schools, hosts recruiting events, organize the many shadow days, and are involved with many more events that at Regina. In addition to being an outstanding professional, she loves to sing and dance at the pep assemblies, and loves to make people laugh.
Colleen Speth is much more than a lacrosse coach and admissions associate to the girls at Regina. She always has a smile on her face and is not afraid to make a fool out of herself. You can also see her handing out left over pizza from shadow days to well-behaved lunch tables at lunch.
Ms. Speth is definitely more than a lacrosse coach and admissions associate: she is a superhero.
