Regina is proud to welcome Krista Gallagher, president of Regina Dominican. Students have seen her walking the halls, and greeting them outside the student entrance before school begins. She always has a huge smile and a friendly hello.
Gallagher grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. For her undergraduate degree, she attended Duke University in North Carolina. After graduation she moved to Evanston, Illinois, attending Northwestern University to earn her Masters in Business Administration at Kellogg School of Management.
Before Regina, Gallagher had an extensive career in investment banking. For Gallagher, it was normal to be the only woman in the room. One of the best experiences she gained from her time working in investment banking was the ability to work abroad in Berlin.
She offered this future advice to students, “try to get a job overseas… it is so totally worth it, and it kind of just shifts your lens.”
Originally, Gallagher was recommended for Regina’s president position by someone in the Wilmette community. She immediately realized that Regina is where she wanted to be. “Between the girls, the broader community, and the academic excellence, I was sold,” she said.
Gallagher is an amazing addition to the Regina community, as she lives in Wilmette and is an active member of the Wilmette community. Her background in strategy, growth, and marketing are skills that she plans to use to promote Regina to the broader community.
A life of faith is something important to Gallagher. She was raised in a home with an open environment, as her mother was Catholic and her father was not. She and her husband have raised their two children in a faith-filled home, with both having attended Catholic schools.
The president’s new position at Regina Dominican has not held her back in any regard, as her family has been incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. The new position has been quite different from her previous jobs, as she previously worked part-time in order to help care for and be closer to her family. The one challenge she seems to have encountered so far has entailed her dog, “My dog is losing his mind because I was working from home before,” Gallagher said.
Despite just joining the Regina Dominican family, Gallagher already feels strongly about the school. The community and the girls are the main reason Regina is what it is today. “Walking down the hall and seeing these happy, engaging girls with their eyes up, willing to talk about any subject really brings so much joy,” said Gallagher.
Some advice Gallagher would give to students is “to use and leverage your teachers, especially in college. Teachers are a great resource, and the best thing you can do is use them,” she said.
Gallagher is incredibly active, not just in Regina, but outdoors, too. Some of her hobbies include swimming, in which she is part of a group, as well as golfing, hiking, and traveling.
When she isn’t greeting students or walking the halls, Gallagher can be found in her office in the administrative wing. She is incredibly positive and and an amiable person. She is extremely dedicated to her community and wants to get to know all of Regina’s students. Next time you see her in the halls, make sure to say hello, you will receive a warm smile and a sincere hello!
