Lacrosse: Rain, Rain Go Away!

The lacrosse team has only played seven games despite the fact that the season officially began in the last few days of February. Because of the rainy weather conditions, the majority of the games sadly needed to be cancelled and rescheduled for a later date.

When asked about the season so far, Senior Captain Floriana Hoxha ’17 said, “There’s not a lot to say yet, unfortunately the weather has been so bad that we haven’t had a lot of games, but we have definitely come together and improved as a whole since the start of the season.”

Both soccer and softball have already had their senior nights, but it seems as though the lacrosse season is just starting. After two months of practices with a few games sporadically played, the lacrosse team faces the most challenges in their last two weeks of the season.

Because of the amount of injuries on both the JV and Varsity teams, they recently combined into one team. So, not only do they have to face the difficulty of playing ten games in the next two weeks, they also all have to learn how to play with each other.

More than half of the team’s games will be played with barely any practice in between, so it will be difficult, but most of the players are looking forward to it.

Senior Captain Barbara Schultz said, “I hope that the weather gets nicer in the next two weeks because we can’t wait to start playing some games.”

So keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds off for lacrosse’s sake. But, if you would like to do more that just hope, you are more than welcome to cheer on the team and the six seniors at their senior night game against Resurrection at Techny next Wednesday, May 10th.
