Hocus Pocus
Throughout the month of October scary movies are hard to escape. Every time you turn on the TV, commercials can be seen promoting the latest terrifying movie making their way to theaters. Many people associate this time of year with these horrifying films, while others choose to enjoy more upbeat movies with a somewhat spooky theme.
Hocus Pocus is a great movie option for people that want to get into the Halloween spirit without being scared to go to sleep at night.
The film takes place in Salem, Massachusetts, and focuses on a boy named Max Dennison, his sister, Dani, and Max’s love interest, Alison. After a night of trick-or-treating, the trio decides to visit the home of the Sanderson sisters, who were executed for practicing witchcraft 300 years ago.
After Max fulfills a prophecy by lighting a candle, the three sisters come back to life. They are only resurrected for one night unless they can restore their youth by stealing the lives of children.
The rest of this fun-filled Disney movie focuses on the efforts of the three teens and their talking cat, Thackery Binx, to put a stop to the witches before it’s too late.
Hocus Pocus is a great movie to watch whether you’re a fan of scary movies or not. It incorporates comedy, suspense, and for many Regina students, it’s a blast from the past.
