Go Nuts for Donuts
Donuts are the perfect snack at anytime of the time of the day. They are a sweet treat for the morning and even a decadent dessert in the evening. Donuts are also very easy to make yourself, so you can control the ingredients and customize the flavors. These donuts are especially easy because they use Pillsbury biscuit dough instead of making them from scratch.
What You Will Need:
- 1 can of Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits
- Vegetable oil
- 1/2 container of frosting, the flavor is up to you
- Rainbow sprinkles for decorating
Instructions:
1. Open up the biscuit dough and separate them into ten individual biscuits.
2. Flatten each biscuit with your palm.
3. Use a 1-inch round cookie cutter to cut a hole in the middle of the biscuit
4. With a 12-inch skillet or 4-quart Dutch oven, heat two inches of oil to about 350ºF.
5. Fry each donut for about 30 seconds on each side or until golden brown.
6. Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to cool off and absorb excess oil.
7. When donuts are cooled, heat the frosting in a microwave-safe bowl for 15-30 seconds, stir and keep heating until frosting is melted.
8. Dip one side of the donut into the frosting and decorate with rainbow sprinkles.
To customize this recipe you can use different flavors of frosting or simply roll the warm donuts into cinnamon and sugar for something new.
