Mrs. Lutz is the newest member of the World Languages Department at Regina Dominican High School.
She teaches Spanish II, Honors Spanish III, and AP Spanish Language and Culture, while also being a Spanish Club and Spanish Honors Society moderator.
Lutz grew up in El Salvador, focusing her life on her Catholic faith. She went to a Catholic school and was taught by nuns. While describing El Salvador, Lutz said, “Growing up in my country, … I think it gave me inner strength.”
As a child growing up in Catholic schools, Lutz wanted to become a nun. She began to become more interested in a business path. She studied psychology in El Salvador for a few years. Following her study of psychology, Mrs. Lutz came to the United States and took business classes while working as an executive assistant at a jewelry manufacturing company.
However, her love was always in education. As she raised her children, she also took classes to obtain her degree in teaching. “The natural thing was to be a Spanish teacher,” Lutz said while describing her final career choice.
As soon as Lutz saw Regina’s job posting for a Spanish teacher, she jumped at the opportunity. Working in a school that has the same values that she shares is very important to her. So far, Regina is a perfect fit! Lutz has always loved the idea of empowering women, so working in an all-girl’s school is particularly exciting.
Lutz loves everything at Regina and is interested in becoming more involved in supporting students at their extracurricular activities. She said, “I think my favorite part of Regina is seeing the girls every day, coming with their bubbly spirit and attitude towards life.”
Her hobbies remain centered around her family. She enjoys spending time with her children before they leave for college and begin the next phase of their lives. She loves going to concerts, dancing, and listening to music.
Students can find Lutz on the third floor in Room 305. Be sure to stop by and say hola!
