Fine Arts Open House Was a Success
Regina Dominican’s annual Fine Arts Open House is a showcase of the various talented artists in the Regina community. On April 15, students, faculty, staff, parents, and prospective students walked the halls of Regina and were able to interact with the variety of fine arts possibilities
Each fine art had a specific area and showcase for viewers to watch or participate in. Mrs. Murray’s art classes had their artwork displayed throughout the hallways. Anyone could go into the art room and help paint a geometrical shape that outlined the word CREATE. Mr. Hiett’s chorale had a “menu” of songs that viewers could pick to listen to. Various members of Regina’s orchestra were scattered throughout the school to perform pieces on their instruments.
The International Thespian Society additionally had an improv lounge set up in the Writing Center for anyone to watch and even participate in. The publications of Regina, such as Kaleidoscope, Crown, and Yearbook, showcased examples of student writing. The Orchesis Team and dance classes had a variety of dance numbers in the auditorium that were a big hit with viewers. They also had a musical chairs activity that was very popular among many grade schoolers in attendance.
This event was not only for current Regina community members, but for prospective students and their families as well. There was even many pieces of elementary school artwork displayed throughout the school to showcase younger talent.
Regina’s art teacher and National Art Honor Society moderator, Mrs. Murray had a very positive reaction to the events of the event.
She said, “It was a wonderful night of talent, creativity and collaboration.”
Walking down the hallways through the Fine Arts Open House made one thing very clear: Regina’s got talent!

I attended the open house and it was definitely worth it. Mrs. Murray put it a whole lot of effort into creating an entertaining atmosphere and a welcoming environment for visitors as they entered the arena full of students pieces. Well done!
