DIY: Summer Edition

Since berries are best in the summer, pound cake with whipped cream and berries is an excellent choice. This is fairly simple and a fast treat to make for any summer occasion.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound of butter
- 1/2 cup of vegetable shortening
- 3 cups of sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. of salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. of milk
- 1 tsp. of vanilla extract
- Handful of blueberries
- Handful of raspberries
- 1 tbsp. of whipped cream
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream the butter and shortening together.
- Add eggs, one at a time, alternating with a cup of flour.
- Add vanilla
- Combine all the in the mixer. I would recommend using a mixer because the batter can become rather thick.
- Mix all the ingredients together.
- Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until the toothpick comes out clean from the cake.
- Slice the cake and put as much whipped cream and berries as you please on each piece. I recommend adding about a tbsp. of whipped cream and half a cup of raspberries and blueberries on each piece.
