Dear Gina,
The seniors have started talking about Convocation. Could you explain what that is and what goes on during the ceremony?
Dear Convocation-Confused,
Convocation is a very fun event for seniors and for the school. It is almost like Ring Day because the whole school watches it in the auditorium. At Convocation, the seniors are given their awards that they have received throughout the year. Also, scholarships are awarded and the department Medalists are revealed and honored.
Everyone loves to see the seniors all dressed up and especially look at their high heels! Also the seniors get to celebrate their hard work throughout high school and prepare themselves for Graduation the next day.
Convocation might seem a little boring to the underclassmen, but just remember that before you know it, you will be a graduating senior and participating at Convocation too!
Dear Gina,
I’m a senior and right now, and the senioritis is real! Do you have any tips to keep me on track with my school work?
Dear Senioritis,
Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. It can be very difficult to stay focused at the end of senior year. College is on the horizon and it seems like the high school chapter of your life is over. However, finishing high school strong is an important thing to do and it shows your college that you are a disciplined worker.
Try to figure out ways to make doing school work more enjoyable. Maybe study for finals outside in the nice weather. You could even start a study group with your friends to hang out and do homework at the same time! Try to keep up your grades the best that you can, but also remember that high school is almost over: go out and enjoy it!
