Panthers Prepare for Playoffs
January has been a very busy month for the Panthers. The varsity basketball team took on St. Joseph, Nazareth, Rosary, Ignatius, Ridgewood, and DeLaSalle and defeated them all.
Maeve Degnan ’15, Claire Conroy ’15, Maggie Palmer ’15, Elizabeth Kwakye ’15, Barb Acacia ’15, Audrey Jahns ’15, and Lauren Vaugh-Snapp ’15 were all honored January 19, 2015 for Senior Night. It was the last home game of their careers and an emotional night for each.
The varsity team is currently 14-8, finishing fifth place in the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) red division. They fell just short of Trinity, Loyola, Resurrection, and McAuley with some close games. The Panthers lost to McAuley by one basket in a last second shot.
Varsity will play Resurrection on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Trinity High School. If the Panthers defeat the Bandits, they will win a “top four spot” in the GCAC playoffs. That has not been done since 2004.
The Panthers plan on receiving a high rank in their Sectional and making it far in the State playoffs.
