A New Stretch of Exercise
Have you ever wanted to try exercising, but wanting to start with something calm, collected, and relaxing? Yoga is the perfect exercise for you.
Yoga was originally created as a Buddhist method for meditation and contemplation, and was transcribed on palm leaves that were either damaged or destroyed. It can be traced back to over 5,000 years ago, but some researchers say that it could be up to 10,000 years old. There are fore different eras of yoga—Pre-Classical yoga, Classical yoga, Post-Classical yoga, and the Modern period.
Yoga is very beneficial for everyone. It is very healing and it creates strength and harmony throughout the whole body. Yoga is primarily comprised of meditation, breathing exercises, and the stretching and flexing of muscle groups.
Yoga is exercise that is very popular in the world today. There are many yoga places where you don’t have to sign up for a whole session and miss half of the classes. A new and popular place is CorePower Yoga.
CorePower Yoga is a franchise that was founded founded by Trevor Tice in 2002 in Denver, Colorado. It has a variety of yoga classes with very convenient times. There are 130+ studios around the U.S. CorePower Yoga works every muscle and emotion and according to their website, it “turns stress into sweat.” It is open seven days a week, and has different classes scheduled for each day.
For first timers, CorePower Yoga has a free one-week trial where you can try out their nine classes. The classes you can choose from are: CorePower Yoga 1, CorePower Yoga 1.5, CorePower Yoga 2, CorePower Yoga 3, Yoga Sculpt, CoreCardio Circuit, Hot Power Fusion, Hot Yoga, and Core Resistance. You can look at the CorePower Yoga website to see the different classes and a brief description of what the class offers.
Caroline Galliani ’16 says, “I like it because depending on the class you choose, it can be very hard cardio or very calming.”
The staff is very warm, inviting, and welcoming to newcomers. They offer a safe environment and they do not push you to anything that you are not prepared or comfortable with. I definitely recommend going to try out CorePower Yoga if you are ready for a new and very rewarding experience!
