Wedding Crashers

Wedding Crashers is the kind of romantic comedy that only comes around once in a blue moon.  It isn’t often that a movie has that magical combination of great actors, a terrific script, and a funny yet heartwarming story.

The movie centers on John Beckwith, played by Owen Wilson, and Jeremy Grey, played by Vince Vaughn, two divorce mediators that have an interesting hobby.  They crash weddings.

However, they don’t just fly under the radar once they crash the wedding.  The pair makes sure to be the stars of the show, becoming best friends with the bride and groom, sitting at the family table, and making everybody have an all-around good time.

The motive behind their crashing is to pick up girls, who they believe are vulnerable due to wedding bliss and loneliness after watching a couple get married.

Although the movie starts off as hilarious, with some adolescent moments, the movie’s focus on love presents itself in the best way possible.

When the two decide to crash the most prestigious wedding of the year, Owen Wilson’s character becomes infatuated with the wedding’s bridesmaid Claire from the moment he sees her. Just a slight and typical plot problem gets in the way. She is engaged.

The rest of the movie takes the characters on a whirlwind spin to find love, and hilarity ensues throughout. In the end, love conquers all, adding a hint of softness to the story.

Besides the great plot, the movie has an all-star cast.  Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are the perfect comedy pair complimented by Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher. Will Ferrel’s appearance at the end certainly puts the icing on the cake.

Next time you’re looking for not just a romantic comedy, but a hilarious romantic film, look no further than Wedding Crashers.
