Staff Profile: Mrs. Julie Morley

Paws Up to our newest member in the Regina community…Mrs. Julie Morley!

This school year Regina Dominican High School made new additions to the faculty and staff. The intelligent, adventurous Mrs. Morley is the Presentational Speaking teacher for the Department of Communication. Morley has a bachelor degree in English and Literature from University of Illinois. Morley was a part of the Campus Honors Program at U of I along with participating student senate, a sorority as well as a DJ for the school’s radio station. As for graduate school, she received a Rotary International scholarship and attended University of South Hampton-England for speech and writing.

Before teaching at Regina, Morley was a administrator at University of Illinois-Chicago Wellness Center. Morley taught a Presentational Speech Class called Communications 279 at the Wellness Center to college students. After, she became a consultant for North Trail Alliance of Greater Chicago meaning she brought attention to economic development on the North Branch Trail. The NBT is a 22 mile long cycling trail which starts in Gompers Park in Chicago and leads to Glencoe.

Morley found Regina through a of our favorite substitute teachers, Mrs. Newton. Morley said, “…my friend-alumna-Mrs. Newton (Maeve’s mom) told me she was subbing a Pres. Speaking class and she thought of me”.

Morley’s job at the NBT discovered her passion for cycling. Among other things, Morley  loves to read and write along with listening to music. Some of her favorite artists’ include David Bowie, The Beatles, Prince, and Tom Petty. Not only does she love listening to music; she can play the guitar and harmonica. Morley shares she’s been practicing for a low key show for November.

Mrs. Morley has expressed her love for her period A Presentational Speaking students. She stated, “I honesty cannot remember a time when I didn’t know them. They are all talented, special, multi-faceted young women”. Morley explained her love for the Wednesday morning meetings, “Paws Up”, and DJ Fridays. She loves being greeted every morning by Mother Mary at the main entrance.

Mrs. Morley has become a positive asset to the Regina community!
