Renovations Revive Regina

2014 has been an exciting year at Regina Dominican so far.  The school is rapidly improving with the introduction of the Gateway to Leadership Capital Campaign, which will fund a revamped version of Regina, complete with a new Leadership Institute and renovated school facilities.

Many of you may remember the plan that was pitched to us last year.  That plan is well underway. “We’re working on the exact timeline.  The plans have been developed, they are complete, and so now we have to work on the plan for doing the construction during the school year to make sure it’s safe for our students,” said President Sister Mary Margaret Pachucki, O.P.

The first step in that plan was the new tile floor found in the student entrance and cafeteria. There have been many positive reactions from both students and alumni.

According to Sister Mary Margaret, “They feel that it brightens the whole student entrance and the cafeteria. It’s a sign that new things are coming.”  Joan Kitchie ’77, Vice President of Advancement, has also played a role in the school renovations.  As an alum, she adds a new perspective on the renovations. “It is really exciting to be able to update the space that we all spent so much time in,” she said.

Another part of the plan is the process of adding the new sign outside.  “It’s coming. Hopefully it will be in by the end of October or sooner.  The design has been approved and the foundation has been laid. We’re waiting for a shipment of the stone to arrive, and there’s been a delay in that,” said Sister Mary Margaret.

Hopefully the plan will be completed in time so that all current students will get to enjoy the renovations. “We want to get it done in a way that is least disruptive to the students, and we want to get it done as soon as possible,” said Kitchie.

We are all very excited and grateful for the new renovations, and anxious to see how they will turn out. “I’m very grateful to the donors who have partnered with us in the campaign.  It is through their generosity that we are able to complete these renovations,” said Sister Mary Margaret.
