Movie review of the classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is a live-action rendition of the movie of the same name made in 1996. ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” directed by Ron Howard, depicts a creature named the Grinch (Jim Carrey) who hates Christmas.

The setting is Whoville, a made-up village where many different Whos live. For the Whos, Christmas is the best day of the year. The Whos love Christmas so much that in the middle of Whoville, there is a countdown for Christmas.

Within Whoville, there lives a family that includes a daughter named Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen). One day while Cindy is paying her dad (Bill Irwin) a visit at work, Cindy runs into the Grinch. The Grinch accidentally pushes Cindy into a machine, but then, he pulls her out and saves her. After the incident, Cindy begins to obsess over the Grinch and his childhood.

Cindy goes on to ask the Grinch’s parents about his childhood. It is revealed that the Grinch was severely bullied because he made a Christmas gift for his crush that is rebuked. Because of this trauma, the Grinch hates Christmas so much.

Over the course of the film, the Grinch and Cindy form a special bond that the Grinch has never experienced before.

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas “is a quirky film that gives a twist on the original book written by Dr. Seuss. Its unique colors and architecture give a real-life portrayal of Dr. Suess’ Whoville.

This Christmas film is a perfect holiday movie for kids 6+. Even though the film is a children’s holiday movie, there is an underlying story of how love conquers all that is perfect for children to learn about at a young age.

Even though the Grinch is an outcast, Cindy still befriends him. This story teaches kids that no matter how different a person may be, everyone deserves to have friends.

As well as that moral, there is another hidden story. When the mayor of Whoville (Jeffrey Tambor) bullies the Grinch, Cindy stands up for him. This message tells the viewers to stand up for anyone who is being bullied.

I highly recommend the Grinch because it is a fun film, with an important message behind it.
