How To Cope With Final Exams!

If anyone has talked to me during finals week at Regina, I was most likely crying or in serious denial. But the more I take finals, the more I realize they aren’t going away, and that there are many ways to make this process easier. Here are some things you can do:

1) Eat some really, really, really good food (It should be healthy…I may have to work on that).
Every year during finals week, my mom surprises me each night with my favorite meals from Portillo’s, Chipotle, or Panera to name a few. Ultimately, healthy food is always the #1 choice. It helps your brain function, and can help your body stay awake longer. Sometimes, however, it doesn’t hurt to eat some comfort food. You deserve it!

2) Make plans for after finals
Sometimes, having something to look forward to can help keep you emotionally stable during finals. Looking forward to something can help put things in perspective, whether it’s a vacation or just spending break watching Netflix.

3) Don’t just focus on what you know
Sometimes while studying for a test, it is very easy for me to want to study the topics I already know; it helps me not to panic, and it boosts my confidence. If I wait to long to focus on the difficult stuff, it just causes more panic. Make the most time for the most difficult concepts.

4) Rewrite notes and create your own study guide on the hardest classes
Obviously, there is not enough time to rewrite every single question from a study guide. However, rewriting notes is a great way  to help your brain better remember the information.

5) Don’t stress too much
Okay, I probably sound like a huge hypocrite here because, let’s face it, when am I not stressed? But finals are just an evaluation of the work you have done the entire semester. Be proud of yourself and CRUSH THESE TESTS!
