Golf Is on Par for Season

The Regina Dominican’s golf team’s 2015 season was full of challenges, enjoyment, and relaxation. There were two seniors, newcomer, Reem Darwish, and veteran, Ivana Marogi. Ivana led the team as captain as they completed a season that was certainly fun and well-played.

The golf team’s goal for the year was to lower everyone’s scores and enjoy themselves. Junior Katie Alleman says that her favorite part of golfing is whenever she has a good shot. It makes her happy and allows her to work harder so she can have good shots consistently.

Alleman says, “I golf because it is challenging and makes me work hard to improve.”

Golf may not seem like a team-oriented sport, but each player works together to get the lowest combined scores. The team only had five players, so they all believed in each other to help the team win.

The golf coaches, Jim Hehir and Elizabeth McCann, worked with the team daily and helped everyone work on improving their scores.

Katie’s advice for younger players would be to watch professionals play golf and to watch other family and friends, because you can learn a lot from watching people. She also recommends starting to golf when young. She started when she was nine, and she wishes she begun golf earlier. She says its helpful to take lessons or do golf camps because practice makes perfect!
