Food Review: Breakfast Foods

Whether its breakfast time on a day off of school or brunch on an early dismissal day, everybody loves breakfast food!  These are some places to visit next time you are craving a great morning meal!

Walker Brothers Original Pancake House

153 Green Bay Rd, Wilmette, IL 60091

This place is a personal favorite of mine.  I can always count on them for a delicious meal.  Nine times out of ten, I will order the Chocolate Chippies.  Now, they are not your average chocolate chip pancakes.  Not only are the chocolate chips cooked into the pancake, but the chef sprinkles a ton more on top!  When they melt from the heat of the pancakes it greats a chocolate heaven in your mouth! They also come with whipped cream on top, and I love to add syrup.

If you are not a fan of chocolate, they have many more options.  I promise that anything you order will be satisfying, whether that is crepes, pancakes, eggs, or their signature Dutch Baby, you really can not go wrong at Walker Brothers!

The staff is friendly, and the space is large, so there is usually lots of seating available on weekdays.  Beware if you decide to go on a Saturday or Sunday morning though, the line is almost always out the door!

Egg Harbor Cafe

2350 Lehigh Ave, Glenview, IL 60026

Although this restaurant is a chain, you would never guess it when you walk in the door!  The place looks like a classic breakfast diner inside.  The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, almost to a fault.  They have a ton of options for breakfast and lunch, and no matter who you are, I bet you can find something to your liking. The extensive menu features scramblers, skillets, omelettes, frittatas, crepes, griddle items, sandwiches, soups, and more!

I ordered the Chicken Sausage and Goat Cheese Scrambler.  It has chicken sausage, creamy goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil in it, served with Harbor potatoes and an english muffin on the side.  It was the perfect brunch item, and very healthy too!  The goat cheese added a nice touch, and scramblers are not something you can find at all breakfast places.  I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a cheap but high quality meal.

Eggsperience

2000 Tower Lane, Glenview, IL 60025

As you can tell from the name, Eggsperience is a very fun and unique place.  Although it is also a chain, it is family run, and they promise a warm and welcoming experience.

I went there on a Saturday morning with some friends and although it was crowded, the service was outstanding.  We were seated quickly and our food came in a timely manner.

I ordered the Nutella French Toast with Fresh Strawberries on top.  It was absolutely delicious! I am a huge fan of Nutella, so when I saw this on the menu, I knew I had to have it, and I was not disappointed.

Eggsperience features all of the classic breakfast staples you can find at any restaurant, but I was really impressed with their array of signature dishes, especially the pancakes.  Some items on the menu included Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes, Caramelized Apple Pecan Pancakes, Idaho Potato Pancakes, Hearty Whole Grain Pancakes, and more!  Keep in mind that you can add Nutella to almost any item on the menu, for extra charge of course.
