Although Delayed, Regina Welcomes Second Year Math Teacher, Peter Smyrniotis

Mr. Smyrniotis has just started his second year of teaching in the math department at Regina. He grew up on the North Westside of Chicago. He says he is very close to his friends and family. He loves hanging out with his friends in his free time. He also loves playing sports like football, volleyball, baseball and basketball. He attended University of Missouri and received his bachelor’s degree in statistics. Go MIZZOU!! During class free time, Mr. S talks about stocks and the latest sport stats.

In the second week of school during the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. S. started teaching. Regina is his first teaching job. He currently  teaches Precalc, Algebra 2 and other mathematic classes. However, Mr. S. had experience in tutoring kids individually prior to coming to Regina

Mr. Smyrniotis said this about coming to Regina, “ I knew a lot of people here which is why I took the job and everyone seemed so nice.”

Mr. S. loves math. He said, “I love teaching math and working/helping through math problems and working with kids so it seemed like a natural fit for me.”

He played softball and volleyball in his past school days, which also inspired him to coach. He is coaching  the freshman volleyball team and is an assistant coach for Regina’s varsity softball team.

The Regina community is so happy to have him here!

HIIII!!! I’m a senior at Regina Dominican and this is my first year with the school newspaper The Crown and I’m so excited to write in the paper! I am involved in Alliance  Club, Art Club, DEI, Par-Tea club  and I sometimes work as part of the  crew in our theater department. I love to listen to music, draw, watch “Criminal Minds,” read stories and play Roblox in my free time. For college I am thinking of majoring in library science and or something related to criminology and ASL. A fun fact about me is that I have two lovely/psycho cats named Ginger and Twinkie.
