It’s that time of the year again, the crinkle of paper for door decorating contests, the shuffling of booklets for the raffle and the brisk air outside- Gnimocemoh week has arrived.

As any incoming freshmen might wonder: “what is Gnimocemoh?” For Reginites, the answer is simple: Gnimocemoh is homecoming spelled backwards. Here at Regina, we do things a little differently. For instance, we don’t have a Friday night football game nor do we have a parade, and we do not announce a homecoming queen or king. Instead, we do things even better.

For an entire week, we have themes, activities during lunch, with the culmination on Friday, where a pep assembly between the faculty and the students is played with either a flag football game or most recently, a dodge-ball tournament. on Friday.

Gnimocemoh is something all Regina Girls looks forward to at the beginning of the year. Not only is it extremely fun, it’s also a chance to see everyone in crazy outfits and, most importantly, show our school pride.

As Hailey Hoffman, a junior said, “It is really fun to see how creative people get with the different themes throughout the week.”

Most importantly, of course, Regina Dominican hosts its Fall Fling dance! Unlike most high schools, we have our dance first and then our “homecoming” week. The theme for this year’s fall fling was Hollywood. Not only did the red carpet shine, but everyone had a great time.

“The decorations at fall fling really made the theme come to life and was a fun time to hang out with friends” Brighid King ’17 said.

Gnimocemoh is a time for all grade levels to come together and have a good time. Throughout the week, days are filled with smiles, laughs, and, most importantly, making memories with life long friends.
