Cheesy Christmas Flick “Let It Snow” Will Tug At Your Heartstrings

It’s that magical time of year again. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Omisoka, or just revel in the joy of spending time with family, December is a very busy and very cold time of year.

While families all have there different traditions and rituals for the winter break. At one time or another, we all snuggle up by the fire or on the couch and watch holiday movies. As Christmas comes closer and closer, Netflix has been putting out Christmas Rom-Com movie for its audience.

One Christmas movie that came out on Netflix this year was a film by Luke Snellin called “Let it Snow.” This follows the Christmas Eve from the perspective of eight teenagers. This modern young adult version of “Love Actually” starts out with the narrator (Joan Cusack) talking about how “it really doesn’t snow in fictional Laurel, Illinois on Christmas Eve. However, it ends up snowing in Laurel. The narrator tells her story about the magic of snow and how being trapped in one town can really change everything in an instant.

As Cusack imparts her wisdom to her captive movie watching audience, the camera cuts from a snow-lined street to Dorrie (Liv Hewson) who is looking longingly in the pet store at a baby pig with a Santa hat on its head.

The movie cuts to Addie’s  (Odeya Rush) story. She is looking at a photo of her and her boyfriend on her phone. Other stories follow Keon (Jacob Batalon) who is planing a secret Christmas party while his parents are away. Angie (Kiernan Shipka) and Tobin (Michelle Hope)  in record store listening to music sung by Stuart Bale (Shameik Moore) who is a famous singer. The last story features Julie (Isabela Merced) looking sadly at her college acceptance letter to Columbia University.

This movie features four different romantic comedies rolled into one. There are a lot of hugs, tears, and heartfelt speeches. There is a song or two, an apology pig and, of course, there is the semi-high speed car chase due to a stolen keg.

While this movie may seem chaotic and disorganized, it ends up being a really cheerful and fun movie. The actors although not as experienced as Joan Cusack prove that their careers have just begun. Showcased with the dynamic and complex characters they portray, this movie is a great one to watch while snuggled up on the couch under a fuzzy blanket with your friends or loved ones.

This isn’t a movie destined to be a classic movie watched generation by generation, but the hopeless romantic in me would recommend it one hundred percent.
