Ms. Lisa Boris Campus Minister

Meet Ms. Boris! She is the new campus minister and one of the new theology teachers joining the Regina faculty and staff. She is super fun and passionate about campus ministry and theology. She is a wonderful addition to the Regina Dominican family! Below are some questions and answers to get to know Ms. Boris a little better. Welcome, Ms. Boris!

What college did you go to and what was your college experience like? Do you have any advice you could give current seniors?
I went to Saint Mary’s University in a small, rural town called Winona, Minnesota. I remember we had prayer services in the woods, which were so much fun. During my experience, I became more independent and started making decisions for myself. My advice for current seniors is to make the college choice based on your passion. Also, never slack off, even when nearing the end.

Where did you previously live and what did you previously do? Tell me about it.
I grew up in Minnesota and taught high school theology for three years. I had lived in Chicago previously for a volunteer program and moved back because I love it.

What do you do in your free time?
I like to cook, bake, watch Netflix, and sometimes jog.

What is your favorite type of music and why?
My favorite type of music is country because I relate to it, since I grew up in the suburbs. It is also fun to dance to.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a pilot or an archaeologist. I wanted to interact with people more, so I decided to become a teacher or a youth minister.

If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing?
I would be a chef because I love cooking.

Do you have any funny/embarrassing stories from high school?
I almost got a detention for wearing pajama pants to school on an out of uniform day because they were considered “intimate apparel.”

If you could bring three people to dinner, who would they be and why?
Buddha – to get his perspective and to learn about how he founded Buddhism. Mother Theresa – to ask her how she feels about becoming a saint. John F. Kennedy – To ask him about what he would have done as president if he was not assassinated and because he was the first Catholic president.

The world is ending. What would your last meal be?
I would have pasta with fresh tomatoes, spinach, and garlic.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
I would go to Alaska because I think it would be really cool.
