On Thursday, Feb. 18, the class of 2016 was visited by Kay McBrearty, the founder of Waterville Partners a consulting firm that helps young adults plan their careers. During the in-school field trip, seniors learned how to use their inner compass to choose career paths that they were passionate about.
This presentation comes at a key time in the lives of seniors as they are about to embark on their first chapter of adulthood. McBrearty explained that people change their careers an average of seven times throughout their lives. She even gave personal anecdotes of the changes adults are faced with throughout their careers.
After McBrearty spoke to the seniors, they took a personality test to see their personality type. Later, the seniors got to see what careers they would be potentially good at.
Clare Broderick ’16 said, “I really enjoyed Mrs. McBrearty’s presentation. It helped me focus on my interests and strengths, and it gave me a better idea of what I want to do in the future.”
This enriching experience, no doubt, left the senior class with ideas of the career paths they may want to travel in the future.
