The Claim

On November 19, 2024, a TikTok user with the handle “@london_sewer_explorer” posted a video regarding large slug-like creatures in the Victorian sewers of London. The video is currently going viral with over 12,000,000 views and 300,000 likes… but are there actually four foot slugs under the streets of London?

Who’s behind the information?

I started by looking at the account that posted the video. There wasn’t any information about who “@london_sewer_explorer” is. I left TikTok and looked up the handle and didn’t find anything. Not having any information, I came to the conclusion that the creator would like to stay annonomous.

Look Into the Evidence & What Experts Say or Do A Keyword Search

Next, I looked at evidence. I found no articles, posts, or websites talking about London sewer slugs.

I looked at the comments of the video and most of them were saying the video was AI. This made me question the credibility of the source. Since the creatures on the account seemed to be biologically impossible and the movement in the videos seemed to be off, I decided to put a few screenshots from the videos into an AI detector. All of the screenshots I used came back as 99% AI created.

My rating

Overall, this source is not legit. All of the videos are AI generated and they are trying to convince people there are monster-like organisms roaming the sewers in London.

All in all, make sure you fact check your sources before you believe something
