(Feb. 26) Net Neutrality Policy Approved
The Federal Communications Commission voted in favor of net neutrality, a policy that prohibits an Internet provider from allowing certain websites to load faster than another.  This requires equal treatment of all websites, which is disadvantageous to large corporations such as Facebook.

(Feb. 25) Three U.S. Citizens Charged With Aiding ISIS
Three New York men were arrested in attempting to join ISIS. Abror Habibov, 30 attempted get a travel document from a Homeland Security office. The other two men, Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19 and Abdurasul Juraboev, 24,  were planning on committing terrorism within the United States if they were unable to travel to Syria, according to the federal government.

(Feb. 24) Rahm Emanuel Fails To Win Re-election 
Former White House Chief of Staff and current Chicago mayor, Rahm Emanuel did not receive enough votes for reelection in the Chicago mayoral election.  He will run against Jesus “Chuy” Garcia in an April 7 runoff.

(Feb. 24) Keystone Pipeline on Hold for Now
President Obama vetoes the proposed Keystone Pipeline, much to the disappointment of the GOP and pleasure of many environmentally-friendly minded Democrats.

(Feb. 15)Terror in Copenhagen
The Danish city suffered two shootings one at a cafe and one a synagogue.  Casualties include a 55-year-old man and a volunteer guard who were shot and killed. Two law enforcement officers were injured. Authorities later shot and killed Omar el-Hussein, a 22-year-old Danish-born Muslim man. Police believe el-Hussein was radicalized by the Islmaic State militant group.

(Feb. 11) Three Students Shot at Chapel Hill
Deah Shaddy Barakat, his wife Yusor Abu-Salha, and her sister Razan Abu-Salha were shot and killed in their home at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill campus.  Craig Hicks was indicted as the shooter and will appear in court the first week of March.

(Feb. 10) American Aid Worker and ISIS Hostage Killed
Kayla Mueller, 26, an American aid worker in Syria who was kidnapped in 2013 by ISIS, was confirmed dead by US officials. ISIS claimed that Mueller was killed in a Jordanian airstrike.

(Feb. 10) Brian Williams Caught in Lies
NBC broadcaster Brian Williams is suspended for six months from the Nightly News after he admitted to giving false accounts of his travels in Iraq as war correspondent.

(Feb. 4) Plane Crash in Taiwan Proves Deadly
TransAsia Airways plane scraped a highway road and then plummeted into a river in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.  43 people died as result of the crash.  The safety of TransAsia Airways’ remains in question as this is is the second crash the company has had in six months.
